ORCKA Flatwater Basic Level (Tandem or Solo)

101-0105_IMGb

The Flatwater Basic Level is designed to introduce the novice or relatively inexperienced canoeist to paddling. It is also a great refresher for more experienced canoeist. The emphasis is on mastering the fundamentals of canoeing, along with a strong grounding in water safety and safe canoeing practices. This certificate is a prerequisite for all other ORCKA certifications.

The Flatwater program is broken down into 4 levels: A, B, C and D. Our standard Learn-to-canoe program is based on the Flatwater level C for tandem and D for Solo canoeing. In some cases we award level A or B if a candidate does not meet the requirements for level C. The Flatwater tandem and Solo course is run over two days, usually a Saturday and Sunday.
