ORCA Flatwater Instructor Course

If you have your ORCKA Flatwater ABCD or Lakewater AB (or equivalent) with solid paddling skills, you qualify for taking the ORCKA Flatwater Instructor course. ORCKA Flatwater Instructors are sought after by camps, tripping companies, school boards and many other outdoor institutions.
The purpose of the Flatwater Instructor Course is to provide a provincial and national certification of the competence in the instruction and administration of the ORCKA Flatwater Level Courses.

Prerequisites:
1) At least 16 years of age at the time of the Flatwater instructor course
2) Current ORCKA Member (part of course fee)
3) ORCKA Flatwater Level Tandem and Flatwater solo, Flatwater A,B,Cand D; equivalent certification or comparable skills and experience (with the permission of the Course Director).
4) It is strongly recommended that all Flatwater Instructors have, in addition to their canoeing qualifications, some qualifications in Swimming, First Aid and CPR.

$550 (plus 5% GST)

Physical Difficulty:
Long days sitting and kneeling in the canoe. Participant must be comfortable in water with lifejacket.

What is Included:
Canoe, paddle, lifejacket, instruction. We recommend you bring your own wooden paddle. Only metal paddles supplied.

What's not Included:
Food, accommodation (camping available), transportation.
