ORCKA Canoe Tripping Level 2

Palmer-Rapids-075b

Canoe Tripping Level 2 is the canoe guiding standard for Canada.  The course emphasizes leadership and organization skills under challenging conditions. Canoe Tripping Level 1 skills are reviewed and expanded upon; new skills and theory are introduced to enhance the leadership ability and potential of the candidate. The course involves a canoe trip stressing organization, safety, leadership, and risk and crisis management. Upon successful completion candidates will be awarded the Ontario Recreational Canoeing Association (ORCKA) Canoe Tripping Level 2 certificate. The ORCKA Tripping 2 certification is recognized as the canoe guide certification of Ontario.

This course is run in a Moving Water environment. You must have Moving Water skills or have taken the Moving Water 1A and Lakewater 1A course. We recommend taking the Combined Tripping 2, Moving Water 1A and Lakewater 1A course. Please read the Prerequisites carefully.

Why Choose Akuni Adventures for Tripping 2?
We teach you how to be a “River Guide”. We believe guiding participants down moving water requires a higher degree of leadership and risk management skills. By putting the leaders in a more difficult position they will leave the course with a higher level of competency and understand that managing risks is the priority when leading any trip.

We have certified canoe tripping guides in Ontario since 1999. Most of our participants are camp leaders or guides who work in the Outdoor Industry. Our program focuses on creating competent trip leaders who can lead a trip safety and can effectively handle an emergency on a trip.
